Moving Beyond pollution

Building on the success of the Beyond Coal campaign, Bloomberg Philanthropies has made key investments to transition the U.S. away from fossil fuels, reduce emissions, and stop the expansion of the petrochemical industry.

Beyond Coal.

Beyond Coal

In 2011, Mike Bloomberg partnered with Sierra Club in the Beyond Coal campaign, which has delivered the greatest carbon emissions reduction in U.S. history, with over two-thirds of coal plants in the U.S. retired or proposed to retire since the start of the campaign.

Beyond Carbon.

Beyond Carbon

Beyond Carbon was launched in 2019 to advance the clean energy transition and move the U.S. towards a 100% clean energy economy. One of the largest philanthropic efforts to fight the climate crisis in the U.S., Beyond Carbon is working to help retire all remaining U.S. coal plants by 2030, block proposed gas plants, and support states and climate leaders to pass strong clean energy policies.
